How long does all this take?

The usual period of time spent in initial formation is about eight years; this can be shortened if a candidate already has qualifications in philosophy or theology which are relevant and recognised. However, in the religious life, the period of formation is not simply a time waiting for something to happen (ordination or final profession); from the day the candidate arrives in the community and begins postulancy, he is living, working and praying in a Passionist community. Sharing in the life and mission of the community and growing in our relationship with Jesus crucified thus become part of the day-to-day experience of formation.
